Official Philanthropy - Speech and Hearing Impairment
In 1954, Delta Zeta's Convention body voted to make the cause of speech and hearing the national philanthropy.
Delta Zeta has national partnerships focused on speech and hearing related causes with The Starkey Hearing Foundation, Gallaudet University, and the House Research Institute.
Herndon Speech Clinic
Our local philanthropy sits on our own campus, the Herndon Speech and Hearing Clinic.
Fort Hays proudly serves the local community and the people of western Kansas through the Herndon Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. The state-of-the-art clinic, serves the dual purpose of providing comprehensive services in speech, language, and hearing.
Build-A-Bear & Starkey
The Starkey Hearing Foundation's Mission is to change the social consciousness of hearing and hearing matters through education and research; while providing the gift of hearing to those in need around the world.
Delta Zeta alumnae and collegiate members help provide bears with hearing aid attachments from Build-A-Bear so that children at an upcoming hearing mission can have a 'furry friend just like them.'
Painted Turtle Camp
The Painted Turtle offers children with serious medical conditions and their families a unique camp experience designed to foster personal growth and exploration. Their goal is to empower campers to make new friends, try new things, build self-confidence, and become more independent in their medical care. In short, they aspire to help their campers discover all that is possible in their lives.
