National History

Ever since September 1983, Delta Zeta has called this place home & this place has lots of monumental significance attached to it: the Oxford City Council designated this Victorian building as a Historic Site.
The National Headquarters also calls this building home: it’s the center, the very heart & soul of Delta Zeta activity. This house reflects everything that Delta Zeta is to the community of Oxford, friends & associates: this is where Delta Zeta does all its important business in planning, directing, guiding, leading – meeting today’s challenges & responsibilities.  Delta Zeta’s today are built on the foundation & groundwork of the Founders & the dreams of tomorrow; what better place to secure them than in the beauty & durability of this red Victorian structure.

Our Founders
In 1902, Julia Bishop, Alfa Lloyd, Anna Keen, Mary Collins, Anne Simmons, and Maybelle Minton met at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. They created the first sorority to be founded at a university.  They went on to lay the foundation for the Delta Zeta which would have a national reach. Today, Delta Zeta has enriched the lives of over 240,000 alumnae and collegiate members in the United States and Canada.
